Várzea week 12

Hello from Cabo Verde. Today was transfers but I found out that I will stay here in Várzea with Elder Angulo for one more transfer. This is his last transfer so it means that I will probably stay here for another two transfers. This week was another hot one. The rain has not come so it has not cooled down. Niks and Marísia are doing well and they seem really happy to be members of the church. We potentially have another wedding here in the future btween a member and an investigator. Their names are Jair and Carla. Jair is the investigator and he is a fisherman. The only thing is that they just are not doing much to prepare. Also Jair has a small drinking problem. Antonio was not baptised because he did not come to church enough. He really wants to be baptised though so we marked a baptismal date for the 15th of September. Our Ward called five new Ward Missionaries to help us out which has been great. They are all preparing to leave on missions. It is helping to increase the excitement in the Ward. I know now that the most efficient way to do missionary work is through the members. Stay cool.

Várzea week 11

Hello again from the the most ghetto place in Cape Verde. It really is, but I have come to love it. I guess the big news is that Niks and Marísia got married and baptised and confirmed. I will not lie it was stressful. They forgot to bring their ID´s so for a moment we thought that it was off. But they let it pass so all is well. I have three marriages on the mission now. Maybe God is preparing me to be a wedding planner when I get home. All I can say is that I know a lot about the marriage process in Cabo Verde. Other than that this week was calm, and Antonio came to church so he is progressing to be baptised this Saturday. In the church we had a lot of kids who were being loud but it was okay. Just a part of life. We have transfers next week so I could go or stay. We will see. Tchau until next week.
Sorry, the quality of the photos is a little lacking. My fault.

Várzea week 10

This week has only a few things that were interesting. We went to Cidade Velha and marked the marriage of Marísia and Nikson. I am relieved that everything went well. The marriage will be this thursday. All we are doing now is just making sure that Marísia will keep the word of wisdom. They will not have a party because they do not have the money but what motivates them is the hope of going to the temple one day. We are having success with two guys named Antonio and Gendarme. It took me a while to remember Gendarme´s name. They are cool people and accepted a baptismal date so we will see what happens. I am doing fine here in Cabo Verde, sorry I do not have much else to write. I know that we can recieve personal revelation for ourselves just as the Prophet Russel M. Nelson told us. I do not have new pictures this week because my SD card is a little weird from having a virus that I picked up at some sketchy internet shack. Here are some nicer photos from the baptism of Lenira and Cedric.

Várzea week 9

This week was another good week. We are making a lot of great progress with Niks and Marisia. It is looking like they will be the ones baptized this month. Many of our other potencial baptisms have fallen but they have endured. We will go to Cidade Velha for their wedding. I have come to love them a lot. This week we visited two families that have had different problems. One´s roof fell in and the other´s house was burned down. We are offering our assistence as laborers and the ward is offering building supplies. The rain has started this week which is good, but it is not a lot. We need more. It has cooled down a little. We started teaching this lady this week but she is a little crazy. She starts crying in the middle of lessons for no reason. We will probably just let her be. My birthday was this week and it was good. I bought a little cake and balloons. I am finally 19. Just kidding I loved being 18. Have a great week.
